Techie Tot

Let’s face it. In today’s world, almost every kid owns an iPad, Android OS tablet or some kind of device where the parents can download games to keep their little ones busy, while they do their work around the house.

I don’t condone endless hours of playing video games because in my opinion, there are a lot of other productive things that can be done instead of sitting in front of the TV or computer, playing video games. I like outdoor activities and I think, it’s great to expose your little one to these kind of activities at a young age, to keep them active and not just stagnant in one place the whole day, accomplishing nothing but a high score in some game.

However, I do like the fact that my son uses the tablet occasionally to read and learn about the alphabet, spelling, counting, music, and teasing his brain with activities such as matching, connecting the dots, and different puzzles. He gets his “tablet” time, and then outside of that those “tablet time”, I try to hide the tablet so he doesn’t play with it and would try to do other exciting activities like playing reading, singing, dancing, social activities with other children and other outdoor stuff to keep him occupied.

He owns an Android-OS tablet and the only ones I install in it are FREE applications and they all must be Educational and contain NO ADS (or less obvious Ads, if any, so he doesn’t click on it). I don’t believe in paying for games and apps on devices. Ironically, I am a Computer Programmer, who would prefer getting paid on applications I develop on these devices (Ha!) But these paying-apps should be geared more towards the non-toddler applications. Why make money off a child? Come on now! Parents spends a lot on diapers, clothing, food, child care (day care, babysitting) services, children activities such as camps, dances and sports. Let them enjoy FREE apps on their kids’ devices. It’s the only quiet time parents get while their kids focus on these apps, at NO COST. Seriously.

Anyway, this section is dedicated to listing all the Educational apps on devices that are FREE and contains NO (or less) ads.

KidsPlacec Oh I also installed “Kids Place” by Kiddoware in my Android phone and his Android tablet. It’s a FREE parents application where you add all of your installed apps for your child. You also put a passcode on it so that your child can’t get out of this program unless you put the code in. It ensures that they don’t accidentally call, text, email someone or post random stuff on your social network accounts. I highly recommend installing this app as part of your Parental Control in these devices.

Lists will be posted soon!! If you know any apps that your kids love that are educational, free and contains no ads, please let us know!
